Group Photos
At the start of the Fall semester, the incoming Compact Scholars are invited to take a group photo on the Free Speech steps at Aztec Center. After the picture is taken, students and their families go over to Cox Arena to participate in the New Student and Family Convocation.
Just as commencement is a ritual marking the completion of study, convocation is a ritual that signals the beginning of a college career, and serves as the official welcome to new students and their families to the academic community.
