The Sweetwater Education Foundation is an independent, nonprofit organization of concerned community parents and leaders dedicated to providing financial help to students in the Compact for Success program. Working in partnership with Sweetwater Union High School District and San Diego State University, the Sweetwater Education Foundation has raised over 2.7 million dollars for scholarships to be awarded to financially-eligible SDSU Compact Scholars.
Compact scholarships are intended to assist in reducing the cost of attendance at SDSU because the Foundation believes that no financial barrier should stand between a Compact student and the right to a college education.
Compact Scholars who qualify, receive renewable Compact Scholarships for up to four years to assist in reducing the cost of attendance. To be considered for a Compact Scholarship award, the student must submit a FAFSA each academic year listing SDSU school code 001151. Award amounts will be determined by the SDSU office of Financial Aid and Scholarships according to a student's Compact eligibility status, demonstrated financial need, and availability of funds. Students who submit FAFSAs by the March 2 deadline, will be notified of their eligibility for a scholarship award in August. For additional information on the Compact Scholarship, please review the Compact Scholarship FAQ.
To honor the objectives of the donors who have generously donated the scholarship funds, students must demonstrate financial need and a commitment to pursue four years of consecutive undergraduate education leading to an SDSU degree at the completion of study. To support this graduation goal, Compact scholarship recipients must agree to the expectations outlined by the SDSU Compact Scholars Program which requires students to enroll in a minimum of 30 units per academic year (may include summer). For additional program requirements, please review the SDSU Compact Scholars Program Student Agreement.
