Looking to Study Abroad?

SDSU, a leader in study abroad, sends students to more than 50 countries worldwide. Whether it's faculty-led, for a week, a month, or an entire semester, there are plenty of opportunities to see the world while earning credit. Below are some links to scholarships for studying abroad.

  • Aztecs Abroad: Log in to SDSU's Aztecs Abroad study abroad database to access the “Scholarships” search tool.

  • Boren Award for International Study: Boren Scholarships, an initiative of the National Security Education Program, provide unique funding opportunities for U.S. undergraduate students to study less commonly taught languages in world regions critical to U.S. interests, and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East.

  • Fund for Education Abroad: Provides a minimum of $1,250 for summer programs four weeks (30 days) or more with preference given to student groups traditionally underrepresented in study abroad, students demonstrating financial need, and students studying in non-traditional destinations.

  • Major/minor Department: Check with your advisor to see if the department offers any scholarships for study abroad opportunities.

  • Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society: Awards fifty (50) $1,000 Study Abroad Grants each year. Students do NOT have to be current PKP members. Visit their FAQ page for eligibility requirements.

Did you know the library can help you find study abroad scholarships? Research additional scholarships in the SDSU Love Library by visiting the Reference Desk, located downstairs from the main entrance in the dome.
