WHO Junior and seniors contemplating becoming professors and interested in the interdisciplinary fields of Ethnic Studies with a focus on Africana Studies
WHAT Become a student protégé under the direction of Dr. Alkebulan who will train you in several forms of research and writing, including:
- Conducting qualitative interviews and analysis
- Reading and interpreting cultural texts
- Enacting Africana theories
In addition to providing training that will prepare students to apply to graduate school, in the first semester I will focus on teaching the students several research methods that I employ in my work as a scholar and teacher. I will provide students with an overview of how I conduct one of my on-going research projects: Black South African Attitudes Towards and Perceptions of African Americans. By the end of the semester, you will have the option of participating on this projects or investigating your own research angle or developing a separate research project that will utilize your training. Students will also have the option to collaborate with one another on research projects.
