Compact Scholars Program Study Abroad

The Compact Scholars Program encourages all its students to maximize all the opportunities SDSU has to offer, including study abroad.

Through a well-planned study abroad experience, you will be able to:

explore the relationship between the academic subjects you study and the real world
enhance your critical thinking and decision-making skills
gain an international perspective on your major and career
explore international opportunities after graduation
gain self-confidence and travel independently
learn more about yourself, your own culture, and your place in the world
learn about your host country’s culture and see things from another’s perspective
develop increased flexibility and improve your ability to handle ambiguous situations
learn about world conditions and global trends and how those relate to what is happening at home
explore the nature of culture and how it affects the way people think and behave
develop an appreciation for cultural difference and identify yourself as a member of the global community
communicate effectively in cross-cultural settings
improve your foreign language skills
develop important job skills that employers seek
earn academic credit

The DUS Study Abroad Incentive Scholarship provides scholarships of $500-$2,000 for Compact Scholars to study abroad. Apply by April 1 or November 1.
