The selection process for national merit scholarships is highly competitive. A well defined and prepared application package provides the selection committee with a comprehensive picture of you, the candidate. A named scholar represents the ideals of the scholarship which most often combines a distinguished academic record, strong commitment to public service, and the promise for future contributions.
The selection process for national merit scholarships is highly competitive and the majority requires a minimum GPA of 3.5 or higher. Your academic record should reflect depth within your field of study through research or creative projects, relative to your class level. Extracurricular activities should showcase your strength as an applicant highlighting the impact of your leadership, commitment to public service, or passion in pursuit of personal achievement.
